A Year of Losing Weight

Can you believe just a year ago I started my journey to losing weight? I signed up for Weight Watchers on December 24 last year, and while I’m not at my goal (yet), I still cannot believe how far I have come and how much I have accomplished in just a year!

  • I have lost 30 pounds. Thirty pounds of my weight is gone! And has stayed gone! I only have 6 more to go before I reach my goal.
  • I have dropped a pants size. I might have even dropped 2, but when I gained my weight I was only wearing sweatpants and hoodies.
  • I ran a half-marathon! I started out running by signing up for a 5K in May, but I never thought I would be able to run a half! I can’t wait til my next one in May with Jim!
  • I can call myself a runner and an athlete again. I used to be scared to death of running in front of people, but now I love it. I love signing up for races and competing. I don’t care how fast or slow I am. I have a blast!
  • I have learned to make better choices. I don’t keep unhealthy food at home anymore. I try to limit how much I go out to eat. I eat fruit when I get a craving instead of a cookie.
  • My wedding dress is now too big. No joke. I bought it in July and have lost almost 10 pounds since then! Oops.
  • I am healthier and happier. Yes, I still make some bad decisions about food and have treats now and then. However, my overall health has improved and I am much happier with myself and my body.
  • I started going to Weight Watchers meetings for support. I am so glad that I did. As much as I don’t like to weigh myself in front of someone else, it truly has helped.
  • I have improved the symptoms of PCOS. The first thing they tell you to do is lose weight, and I truly believe that it has helped.
  • I am finally happy with myself and what I have accomplished. I used to be so ashamed of my body and how I looked. I used to be so sad that I gained so much weight in such a short amount of time. But now I know that I can change my lifestyle to improve my eating and fitness. I know that I can do anything now!

Here’s to a healthy and happy 2013!
